Business Listing Guidelines
The Hornet Student Marketplace is designed to support student and alumni entrepreneurs by providing a platform to showcase legitimate, student-run businesses. To maintain a professional, ethical, and inclusive marketplace, all businesses must meet the following criteria.
Allowed Business Types
We welcome student-created businesses that provide products, services, or digital offerings across a variety of industries. Businesses must be legally compliant and aligned with Fullerton College’s values.
Accepted business types include but are not limited to:
Product-Based Businesses
- Handmade & Artisan Goods – Jewelry, candles, home decor, clothing, accessories, artwork, crafts, pottery, etc.
- Printed & Digital Goods – T-shirts, stickers, posters, stationery, digital downloads (art, planners, Food & Beverage – Baked goods, packaged snacks, coffee, tea, or other foods (must comply with local health regulations).
- Tech & Gadgets – Student-developed software, mobile apps, 3D-printed products, or small tech accessories.
Service-Based Businesses
- Creative Services – Photography, videography, graphic design, social media management, marketing, branding, etc.
- Educational & Tutoring Services – One-on-one tutoring, test prep, language lessons, college application coaching.
- Tech & IT Services – Website development, computer repair, coding bootcamps, digital security services.
- Health & Fitness Services – Personal training, yoga instruction, wellness coaching, meal planning (must comply with certification requirements).
- Automotive & Home Services – Car detailing, minor home repairs, custom furniture building, landscaping.
Other Acceptable Businesses
- Freelance & Consulting – Copywriting, resume-building services, business coaching, career advising.
- Entertainment & Event Services – DJs, musicians, event planning, party decorations.

Prohibited Business Types
To ensure a safe and ethical platform, the following businesses and activities are not permitted on the Hornet Student Marketplace:
- Alcohol, Tobacco, and Vape Products – Including cannabis-related items, CBD, and nicotine-based products.
- Firearms, Weapons, and Self-Defense Items – Guns, knives, tasers, pepper spray, or any weapon-related items.
- Illegal Substances & Drug Paraphernalia – Any items promoting or related to controlled substances.
- Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or Pyramid Schemes – Businesses that require participants to recruit others for commissions.
- Gambling, Lotteries, or Betting Services – Including raffles and sweepstakes that require payment to enter.
- Adult Content & Services – Any sexually explicit material, escort services, or content deemed inappropriate for a college platform.
- Hate Speech, Discriminatory Content, or Unethical Practices – Businesses that promote violence, discrimination, or illegal activities.
- Copyright-Infringing or Counterfeit Products – Fake designer goods, unlicensed prints, music, or software piracy.
- Financial & Investment Schemes – Loan services, cryptocurrency trading advice, high-risk investment programs.
- Health & Medical Claims – Products or services making unverified medical claims, including unlicensed therapy, alternative medicine, or weight loss pills.
The Hornet Student Marketplace reserves the right to remove or reject any business that does not meet these guidelines.
